Malaysia’s Rosmah loses her final appeal against corruption

According to the Holy Spirit’s leading, we continue praying corruption in the Malaysian government be exposed. Malaysia is rated 54^th out of 128 countries for corruption. PM Anwar knows this is having a huge impact on the economy and foreign investment.

Former PM Najib’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, lost her third and final appeal in her corruption case involving solar panels. She now awaits the court to make charges. More recently she was indicted for not paying for jewellery, received from a Lebanese owner. She was ordered to pay $14.6M USD, the value of the jewellery.

In sentencing, Judge Quay Chew Soon said, Rosmah acknowledged receiving the jewellery, possessing the jewellery and not returning the jewellery. Under the law, these are undisputed facts therefore the court has no choice, but to bring a conviction.

The Judge dismissed Rosmah’s plea, that the government agents misplaced the jewellery after removing them from her apartment. Rosmah failed to call any witnesses proving her claim, therefore the charges stand. Read more …

Former PM Najib, is charged with abuse of power and money laundering, serving 15 years in prison and ordered to pay almost $2B USD in fines. The charges are added to Najib’s current sentence of 6 years imprisonment and a fine of $45M USD.

Former PM Najib, in his 1MDB case, claimed Jo Low stole the money from 1MDB, after initially claiming he did not know Jo Low. Najib changed his story, when photos showed them posing together.

Najib then changed his story again saying, Jo Low was managing his accounts. When the bank proved Najib was managing the accounts, Najib claimed Jo Low stole the money, not him.

In assessing the sentence, Judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah said, because Najib showed now remorse he had no choice but to impose a heavy sentence. This is to deter future government corruption. Read more …

What still concerns me, are the people who died trying to expose corruption. There is the Mongolian model, blown up using government grade explosives. There is also the man found in a barrel of concrete, and the man found dead outside the Central Police Station. All were trying to expose corruption.

PM Anwar is determined to root out corruption in the Malaysian government. It is not an easy task, but it is possible. Hong Kong was very corrupt until the British established laws preventing corruption, and vigorously enforced those laws.

Malaysia is a beautiful country which can prosper greatly, if corruption is stamped out. Let’s keep praying for the Malaysian government.
