Why we pray for so long!

If My People Will Humble Themselves and Pray, 2 Chronicles 7:14

Christians often wonder, why do we pray for so many hours. Well, Daniel prayed for three weeks, Esther for three days, the Church in Jerusalem for at least three days and Jesus for three hours. These are examples we can quote from scripture. Notice the context, crises which changed nations and history. This is why we pray for so long!

When preparing for online intercession, the Lord gave me two dreams. The first was, “Not many people pray for three hours”. The second, “There won’t be many people who will host a prayer meeting for three hours”. Every day during World War II, Rees Howells and the college prayed every morning, every afternoon and evening. Sometimes, they prayed until early morning, so they could change the direction of the war. This is why we pray for so long!

For national situations, or circumstances which will not change, it requires a different prayer strategy. We use the model Jesus taught the Apostles, “The widow’s model”, in Luke 18:1-8. Check out “Our Story” and you will see how God uses ordinary people, to do extraordinary things.
